A free cut list optimiser with no trial clock
Cutzilla's free plan lays out your cut list on your sheets five times a day, in the browser, for as long as you want it. You don't need a card, and there is nothing to install.
No card · no install · no expiry
What does Cutzilla's free cut list optimiser include?
Cutzilla's free plan uses the same two packing algorithms as the paid plans. Every run packs your cut list with both the CODA and LEDGE algorithms, then keeps the better layout and shows you which one won.
- 5 optimisations a day
- 2 projects and 2 materials
- Both algorithms, compared on every run
- Grain direction and multi-sheet layouts
- Offcut tracking
- PDF and image exports (watermarked)
Cutzilla's free optimiser takes your blade kerf out of every cut, so the plan matches what the saw does. Grain-sensitive parts are only turned the way the grain allows, and a job spills across as many sheets as it needs. It handles rectangular panels and linear lengths: carcass sides, shelves, drawer parts, rails and stiles. It does not nest curved shapes for a CNC router, and nor do the paid plans.
You do need a free account, because Cutzilla saves your projects and materials between visits. If you would rather see a layout first, the demo runs a sample job with no signup.
What are the limits of the free plan?
The free plan allows five optimisations a day, two projects and two materials, and its PDF and image exports carry a watermark. The pricing page lists every limit on every plan.
Five runs a day is enough to lay out a bookcase, a wardrobe or a run of kitchen carcasses, try a couple of sheet sizes and settle on a plan. If you hit the limit, the allowance comes back the next day and nothing you have saved is touched. Two projects and two materials suit someone building one or two things at a time. A shop quoting several jobs a week will outgrow that, and that is the point where paying makes sense.
Every new account also gets 14 days of Pro, with no card. When it ends the account drops back to free by itself, so there is no bill waiting for you if you forget.
Is a free cut list optimiser good enough?
For laying out sheets, usually yes. Free cut list optimisers are good at packing rectangles onto boards, and the layout on a paid plan is not magically tighter. What money buys is the work around the layout.
A free cut list optimiser is enough when the cut list is the whole problem: weekend projects, one-off builds, anyone cutting now and then. Paying starts to make sense when the admin around a job costs more than the cutting. That means quoting regularly, holding stock across jobs and reusing offcuts often enough that forgetting them costs real money.
In Cutzilla, Maker lifts the daily limit and removes the watermark. Pro adds the quoting workspace, inventory tracking and branded exports. A one-off Project Pass unlocks a single job if you would rather not subscribe. From cut list to clean cuts in minutes
No setup, no spreadsheets to wrangle. Enter your parts and let the algorithms do the packing.
Add your sheets & parts
Type them in or import a CSV. Set kerf, grain direction and stock sizes — Cutzilla remembers your common materials.
Run the optimisation
Pick an algorithm or run both. In seconds Cutzilla compares the layouts and selects the one that wastes the least.
Cut with confidence
Follow the visual sequence, print labels for each piece, and export PDF, SVG or CSV. Done before the kettle boils.
Cutting optimisation is free. You pay for the paperwork.
Layout quality is never the thing we hold back — both algorithms, grain direction and multi-sheet layouts are on every plan, including Free. Paid plans add the exports, labels and business tools around them.

Yes, you need a free account, because Cutzilla saves your projects and materials so you can come back to them. Signing up takes an email address and no card. If you want to see a layout before creating an account, the Cutzilla demo runs a sample job with no signup at all.
Cutzilla stops you running a sixth layout that day and tells you why. Your projects and results stay where they are, and the allowance comes back the next day. If you regularly need more than five runs a day, the Maker plan removes the limit.
Yes. Cutzilla takes your blade kerf out of every cut on the free plan, and parts marked as grain-sensitive are only placed the way the grain allows. Neither is held back for paying customers.
Every new Cutzilla account gets 14 days of Pro automatically, with no card. When that ends the account drops to the free plan on its own. Nothing is charged and nothing is deleted. You keep the free plan for as long as you want it.
Yes. Cutzilla runs in the browser, so the same cutting plan opens on a laptop in the office and a phone at the saw. There is nothing to install and nothing to update.
